Bennett offers an in-depth look in Arrest to Trial

Arrest to Trial

Trinity Valley Community College Adult and Continuing Education is offering crime show and true crime fans a chance to get an in-depth look at what happens behind the scenes.

TVCC Instructor and former District Attorney for Henderson County Donna Bennett is excited to team up with TVCC Adult and Continuing Education to offer Arrest to Trial an exciting course that shows students what happens from the time of arrest to the time of trial.

“I think this is a good way to learn how things really are,” Bennett said.

In the first class students will learn and discuss the fundamental principles of arrest. In the second class, students will take a tour at the Henderson County Jail by Sheriff Botie Hillhouse and learn about what happens during incarceration. During the third class, students will learn about the process of filing charges, what happens in the prosecutor’s office, and the essentials of a trial. The last class will offer students an in-depth look at the Henderson County Courthouse in Athens and the District Courtroom. During the tour, Hendeson County Attorney Clint Davis will give the opportunity to visit and learn more about what happens inside the courtroom.

“I enjoyed my job as a prosecutor and I am proud of how the system works in Henderson County,” Bennett shared. “We have great people here!”

Arrest to Trial will consist of four Monday night classes starting March 18 at 6 p.m. Registration cost is $50.
