April 1, 2020 Update

  • In accordance with Governor Abbott's March 31 Executive Order, TVCC campuses will remain closed to student and visitor traffic through May 4.
     
  • The graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 14-15 will be postponed to a later date. Once determined, that date will be communicated to students at their TVCC email account.
     
  • All spring semester courses will remain in an online or remote format for the remainder of the semester.
     
  • Details will be communicated directly to students involved in courses with a significant amount of hands-on instruction, as decisions are made regarding those changes.
     
  • Outdoor Wifi hotspots are available on the Athens, Palestine, Terrell and the Terrell Health Science Center campuses.
    • Athens - TVCC marked vehicle behind Cardinal Gym pavilion contains Wifi hotspot
    • Palestine - Parking lot
    • Terrell - TVCC marked vehicle outside Education Building contains Wifi hotspot
    • Terrell HSC - TVCC marked vehicle near Professional Building contains Wifi hotspot
       
  • Computer labs are open on the Athens, Palestine and Terrell Health Science Center campuses, following CDC guidelines.
    • Athens: Baugh Technology Center, Mon - Wed, 11am - 4pm
    • Palestine: Door closest to parking lot, Mon - Fri, 8am - 3:30pm
    • Terrell HSC: Enter through second door from left, Mon - Fri, 8am - 4:30pm
       
  • Campus housing will be available for special circumstances with limited dining options. Circumstances will need to be communicated to and approved by Harold Jones, director of student housing at hjones@tvcc.edu. Beginning April 6, housing students will be allowed to move out of the residence halls. Prior to moving, students must inform the housing office by emailing hjones@tvcc.edu with the date and time they plan to check out. You must check out or your items WILL BE DISPOSED OF on May 17, if prior arrangements have not been made with Mr. Jones.
     
  • Course test proctoring will be available on each campus beginning April 6, following CDC guidelines, but additional options for testing are currently being discussed.
     
  • The financial aid department is providing services to students remotely. Call 903-675-6233 or email finaidinfo@tvcc.edu for financial aid assistance.
     
  • The TVCC Foundation scholarship application deadline has been extended to June 15. Visit bit.ly/tvccscholarship to complete the application.
     
  • Summer course registration begins April 13, and advisors will be providing virtual advising sessions to assist students with summer registration. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, there is a possibility that summer courses could be delivered in an online or remote format. A decision will made and communicated by May 4 about the instructional delivery format for summer courses.
     
  • Fall course registration begins April 27, and will begin with advisors providing virtual advising sessions to assist students with registration. Depending on the COVID-19 situation requirements at that time, adjustments will be made to best accommodate students during that process.
