March 31, 2023, Special Board Meeting Minutes
Trinity Valley Community College
The Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees met in special called session at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, in the Board Room of the Orval Pirtle Administration Building in Athens, with the following members present:
Mr. Mike Hembree Mr. David Monk Dr. Clayton Gautreaux
Mr. Steve Grant Mr. Ron Day
Members not present: Dr. Terry Eason, Dr. Charlie Risinger, and
Mr. Jerry Stone
1. Dr. Gautreaux opened the meeting with prayer.
2. Mr. Hembree moved, seconded by Dr. Gautreaux for the Board to convene to closed session at 8:35 a.m. in accordance with Government Code 551.074 and 551.071 to consider the following matters:
a. To deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee or to hear a complaint or charge against a public officer or employee.
b. Private consultation with the board’s attorney to seek advice on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the board under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct clearly conflicts with the Open Meetings Act.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. Mr. Hembree moved, seconded by Dr. Gautreaux, for the Board to return from closed session at 10:17 a.m. Motion carried unanimously.
4. Mr. Monk moved, seconded by Mr. Hembree, for the board to uphold the level 3 decision regarding employee grievance appeal presented.
Motion carried unanimously.
5. Mr. Day moved, seconded by Dr. Gautreaux, to adjourn the meeting at 10:18 a.m. Motion carried unanimously.
