SALARY: $93,438 - $102,782

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Associates degree

EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Bachelor’s Degree

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Ten (10) years of relevant experience working in IT infrastructure, strategy, and/or leadership roles. Additional job-related education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

OTHER LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

Having any of the following certifications or knowledge is a plus: SixSigma (Process Improvement Certification), TOGAF (Enterprise Architecture Knowledge/Certifications), Azure, CISSP, or CISM (Information Security Principles).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates IT infrastructure road maps that leverage modern design principles and technologies, and effectively meets both current and future College needs. 
  • Leads strategic planning for new or enhanced IT infrastructure including requirements gathering, user-centered design, implementation, assessment, and retirement of services.
  • Establishes, leads, and/or participates in “communities of practice,” informal and formal user groups, advisory councils, steering committees, and governance groups to communicate with and engage students, faculty, and staff in IT infrastructure strategy, planning, policy development, priority-setting, service delivery, outreach, and more.
  • Manages operating and capital budgets for the Infrastructure team, including developing financial models and multi-year budget projections, equipment replacement, and maintenance/refresh programs.
  • Adds technical and strategic input during the planning phase of potential projects, in the form of technical architecture designs and recommendations.
  • Directs performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the technology infrastructure, including forecasting technology changes impacting demand and making recommendations for future planning.
  • Leads the evaluation of IT infrastructure that meets short and long-term goals, and develops business cases, ROI, TCO, and other analyses to help guide their selection. 
  • Determines Infrastructure priorities and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Recommends IT infrastructure enhancements and investments, where appropriate, to support the College’s strategic goals and technology priorities, improve processes or user experience, and/or reduce costs.
  • Directs the day-to-day operations for the Infrastructure team, including creating and managing strategies, plans, policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Ensures high availability, reliability, and security of the IT infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Establishes disaster recovery (DR) strategies, leads ITS DR/business continuity activities, and serves as the IT liaison for College-wide DR/business continuity work. Ensures DR plans are current and regularly tested. 
  • Manages and/or participates in College-wide or divisional IT infrastructure projects, as appropriate, coordinating with CIO and other Directors for project scoping, planning, communication, and/or reporting.
  • Identifies appropriate industry standards, legislative requirements, College policies, and IT procedures, and best practices for IT infrastructure management and support, and ensures they are consistently implemented across the department.
  • Continually assesses and improves departmental processes, services, and systems.
  • Identifies and implements key metrics for IT infrastructure services (in coordination with CIO and other Directors, where appropriate); and tracks, analyzes, and reports on trends relative to key metrics and SLAs.
  • Establishes protocols for on-call IT infrastructure support, assists with on-call availability, and ensures response within agreed upon timeframes.
  • Participates in internal and external audits, prioritizes corrective actions, ensures successful remediation within requested timeframes, and reports efforts to auditors, as appropriate.
  • Creates and documents standards and practices regarding IT infrastructure services for use across the College.
  • Builds, supports, and expands a culture where employees can succeed and thrive.
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors employees under their supervision. Plans and conducts performance appraisals of employees under their supervision. Participates in or leads hiring processes, as needed.
  • Builds strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the College, actively participating in College activities and initiatives, and serving on College-wide committees and projects, as assigned.
  • Cultivates, negotiates, and formalizes vendor relationships and external partnerships that support or enhance IT/campus partner digital initiatives.
  • Develops a strong network of peers at comparable institutions and represents Trinity Valley Community College at local, statewide, and national meetings and conferences, as appropriate.
  • Maintains current knowledge of, and advises the CIO on, best practices and future trends in all areas related to IT infrastructure and security trends, opportunities, strategies, solutions, resources, and compliance.
  • Keeps the CIO informed of current and potential issues, activities, operational outages, and any other risks that might jeopardize or degrade IT service delivery to the College community.
  • Serves as a member of the IT leadership team, and assists the CIO with divisional management, strategic planning, fostering a high-performing and innovative technology environment, and driving digital transformation at the College.
