The Bachelor of Arts and Applied Science (BAAS) program in Early Childhood Education and Teaching (ECET) is designed to equip future educators with a deep understanding of child development, pedagogy, and educational psychology, providing a solid foundation for teaching young learners. The curriculum includes a range of courses in key areas such as early literacy, child psychology, inclusive education, and classroom management, alongside practical field experiences in diverse early childhood settings. Admission Requirements

  1. Admission to TVCC if the student is not enrolled at the college.
  2. Minimum 2.75 GPA.
  3. Complete a program admission application. TVCC students must use their credentials to login to the application.
  4. Approval from the Program Admission Committee. Applicant will be notified in 1 month.
  5. Associate of Applied Sciences in Early Childhood Education or an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree or equivalent (60 hours).
  6. Complete the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s 42 semester credit hour core curriculum.

Pre-requisite courses: TECA 1311, TECA 1354, EDUC 1301, EDUC 2301, MATH 1350, MATH 1351
Candidates who lack prerequisite coursework may be conditionally accepted and advised to take leveling courses.
