Hawkins Appointed to NCORE Council

TVCC Director of School Relations Audrey Hawkins has been appointed to serve on the National Advisory Council (NAC) for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in America Higher Education (NCORE). The appointment is for a 3-year term on the Student Affairs and Affiliated Professionals committee of the NAC.
“The NCORE conference series constitutes the leading and most comprehensive national forum on issues of race and ethnicity in American higher education,” said Hawkins. “It focuses on the complex task of creating and sustaining comprehensive institutional change designed to improve racial and ethnic relations on campus and to expand opportunities for educational access and success by culturally diverse, traditionally underrepresented populations.”
“TVCC is very proud of the appointment of Audrey Hawkins…” said TVCC President Dr. Jerry King. “ We congratulate and appreciate Audrey’s efforts on the critical issues of race, ethnicity, and cultural diversity in higher education.”
Hawkins holds a B.A. degree from Wiley College in Marshall and a Master of Education degree in guidance and counseling from Prairie View A&M University. She has also done post graduate study in guidance & counseling at Texas A&M Commerce and in law at South Texas College of Law. She has been with TVCC since 1997.
