TVCC Receives ACEN Accreditation

RN to BSN Class May 2024

Trinity Valley Community College has received national accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

“This is tremendous for our Bachelor of Nursing program,” TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison exclaimed. “It is the industry standard recognizing our program at Trinity Valley Community for its achievement of quality and excellence in nursing education.”

The nursing accreditation team submitted a self-study report for TVCC’s candidacy in March 2022. In September 2023, a team of ACEN reviewers visited the Terrell Health Science Center and held interviews with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members to clarify and verify the accuracy in evaluation of the program.

At the April 2024 meeting, the ACEN Board of Commissioners granted accreditation and scheduled the next evaluation visit for Fall 2028.

The ACEN is recognized as an accrediting body by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), according to acenursing.org. The ACEN is one of the largest specialized accrediting agencies, accrediting nursing programs throughout the United States, its territories, and internationally.

TVCC is one of 35 of the 60 community colleges in Texas that is ACEN accredited
