Convenient Credit Classes Offered At Lunchtime To Help With Small Business Productivity

The Trinity Valley Community College Workforce Education Division is offering three lunchtime, credit or non-credit courses during the spring 2018 semester to help small to large businesses increase productivity.  Each credit course is a beginning step towards an occupational skills award, certificate or associate degree program. All courses are offered during lunchtime in a face-to-face setting in the Baugh Technology Center on the Athens campus. Please feel free to bring a sack lunch and a capped beverage and be prepared to learn how you can save time, enhance your skills and make your business more productive.

These classes are for the full 16-week semester that begins on January 16 and ends May 7. You can register for the class now through January 11. Please register early to assure your seat in the class.

Introduction to Accounting (ACNT 1303, Section 0006) will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:15 to 1:30 with Mr. David Loper. For those who are new to accounting, this course introduces bookkeeping and accounting principles of double entry bookkeeping along with journalizing, posting to ledger accounts, trial balances, financial statement, and adjusting and closing entries.

Business Computer Applications will be offered Monday and Wednesdays (BCIS1305, Section 0147, 0199) or Tuesday and Thursday (BCIS1305, Section 0157, 3493) from 12:15 to 1:30. The Monday/Wednesday class is being taught by Ms. Jan Osteen and the Tuesday/Thursday class is being taught by Mr. Marshall Reeves. For those who are relatively new to computer applications, this course introduces cloud based storage, computer terminology and office applications. This course uses the Microsoft Office suite for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software.

Introduction to Spreadsheets (ITSW 1304 Section 4049) will be offered on Monday and Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1:30 by Dr. Maribeth McAnally. For those already familiar with basic computer operation, this course concentrates only on spreadsheets skills using Microsoft Excel.  This course covers the following topics:  creating formulas, utilizing built-in functions, formatting reports, creating tables (including pivot tables), how to use spreadsheets as a database, and creating charts and graphs. Grading will be business-related and project-based cases.
