Timothy Samples
Tim Samples joined TVCC in July 2014 as the marching band director and now serves as the Music Dept./Band Coordinator. He also teaches applied Trumpet, French horn, Music Literature, and Music Appreciation. He has been a band director, choral director, and elementary music teacher, as well as a volleyball, basketball, and track coach.
Mr. Samples graduated from Midlothian High School and holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and a Master’s of Music-Trumpet Performance degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He is presently pursuing an EdD. in Organizational Leadership-Higher Education at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ.
Mr. Samples has taught at Navarro College as the part-time assistant band director/brass instructor in Corsicana, Texas. He taught at Dallas Baptist University as a brass teacher and as a band director. He has taught in both public and private schools. He served as the band director, choral director, and a coach at Ovilla Christian School in Red Oak, TX, and was the band director at Dublin High School and Jr. High.
Mr. Samples is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Texas Community College Band Directors Association. Mr. Samples is a former member of the Singing Men of East Texas where he participated with the choir and played his trumpet in the Brass Ensemble when his schedule allowed.
