Deanna Frye is an art professor at Trinity Valley Community College, where she instructs various courses such as Art Appreciation, Art History, and Drawing. She is a firm believer in the phrase, “practice what you teach”.  Deanna is a professional artist and has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Texas, New Mexico and New Hampshire. Her art often draws inspiration from mid-century design, nature and the beauty of the formal elements of art. She has a true passion for art, which she shares with those around her in the community, classroom and studio.

Deanna received her Masters of Art in Art Education, with an emphasis in painting, from the New Hampshire Institute of Art and her BFA in Painting and Art Education from the University of North Texas. Before joining the faculty at TVCC, Deanna worked as a teaching artist in secondary art education. During her years in secondary education, she had the privilege of leading several student groups abroad to Europe with extensive study in art history and culture. Deanna also served on the Region VII Service Center Fine Arts Panel, the Anderson County Fine Arts Council, and has presented workshops on creativity and concepts in art. Deanna continues to be involved in her community by completing local commissions and teaching small group art lessons to children and adults.

Outside of teaching and making art, Deanna loves to travel and learn more about the world of art and history. Thanks to her many trips abroad, Deanna has visited some of the most famous art museums in the world such as the Louvre, MoMA, the Guggenheim (in Venice, New York, and Bilbao), and many more. Her most exciting moment of travel was witnessing the enormous energy in St. Peter’s Square the evening the new Pope was elected! Deanna plans to continue her adventures as a professor and artist with persistent practice and learning in her field. She is thrilled to be part of the TVCC community.
