Introduction
The Palestine Vocational Nursing Program is located at the Palestine Workforce Education Center (PWEC), in the old mall.
It is a one-year, 49 credit hour curriculum leading to a certificate in Vocational Nursing. Graduates will be recommended to the Texas Board of Nursing to be approved to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) to qualify as a licensed vocational nurse.

The information listed below is a brief summary of the
 
Requirements  - (see brochure for application deadlines and complete detailed admission process)
·         TSI Complete
·         Proof of high school graduation or GED
·         Prerequisites-  
o   BIOL 2404 - Intro to A&P
o   PSYC 2314 - Human Growth and Development
·         Passing Scores on Entrance Exam
o   HESI or TEAS (see brochure for passing scores)
·         Negative Criminal Background and registry checks
·         Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above
 
Application Deadlines
Open from September 15th –December 1st
Late applications are accepted if space is still available.

For students in this course who may have a criminal background, please be advised that the background could keep you from being licensed by the State of Texas.  If you have a question about your background and licensure, please speak with your faculty member or the department chair. You also have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the applicable licensing agency.
