The Automotive Technology one-year certificate offered through Trinity Valley Community College is designed to prepare students for positions as entry-level technicians. This program combines theory and laboratory courses in the internal combustion engine, standard, and automatic transmissions, shop safety, and front- and rear-suspension system of the automobiles. In addition, students take a course in the service and repair of the electronic fuel injection and computer system of the automobile.
According to the most recent U. S. Department of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is expected to increase from 2016 to 2026. The following video provides information on automotive technology careers.
