Good Herdsman Award - Open Charolais - 1st place. The show team was awarded a very nice Houston Livestock Show Trophy (see student holding trophy in photo) for their efforts. This makes three years in a row the TVCC Beef Cattle Show Team has placed first in this contest. The good herdsman award at the Houston Livestock Show is judged by a committee made up of several individuals. One of the judges will walk by each contestant's cattle stalls approximately every 30 minutes to one hour grading the exhibitor on general appearance, cleanliness of animals, stalls and hallway in front of stalls, safety of area, and most importantly, how well the exhibitors work with the animals. To win this award, there needs to be someone up brushing, blow drying, or grooming the cattle at all times over the two day judging period. Our students worked extremely hard to win this award.
