TVCC Choir set to perform next free concert April 27 at Dogwood Church

Trinity Valley Community College, The Cain Foundation and The Lakeland Concert Association will present “A Vocal Spectrum” on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. at Dogwood Church in Athens.

This concert, featuring the Cardinal Singers, Chamber Singers and Cardinal Percussion, is free to the public. Music of all styles will be featured – but especially pieces with an international flavor, according to Dr. Byron McGilvray, TVCC’s director of vocal and choral instruction. Musical styles in Hebrew, Russian, African and French will be among those performed.

The concert will feature percussion, woodwinds, brass and handbells.

“This will be a spectrum of styles from throughout the world,” Dr. McGilvray said. “Our audience may not know all the tunes, but they will recognize them.”

Additionally, a few pieces will be performed from last month’s concert, “Mostly Majors: Music from Major Work.” That performance was cut short due to a severe ice storm that hit the area shortly after the concert started.

Dogwood Church is located at 6467 FM 2494 in Athens.
