TITLE: Workforce Education Faculty, TDCJ Unit Coordinator
LOCATION: Michael Unit
SALARY: One Overload Course Equivalent; 3 semesters per year (Fall, Spring, Summer)
MONTHS TO BE WORKED PER YEAR: 12 months

QUALIFICATIONS: Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in the teaching discipline; OR: Hold an associate’s degree (in the teaching discipline) and a minimum of 3 years relevant full-time work experience; OR: Hold a certificate in the teaching field PLUS provide (in a continuously updated portfolio) documentation of demonstrated competencies in the teaching field, work experience in the field, licensure, certification, honors and awards, continuing education, continuous documented excellence in teaching and other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes. Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant full-time work experience. Correctional experience preferred. College teaching experience is preferred. This position requires TDCJ clearance prior to employment.
DUTIES: In addition to the instructional responsibilities outlined in TVCC Board Policy DDA (LOCAL), program coordinators: Serve as immediate supervisor for unit workforce faculty. Oversee curriculum development in programs, including the establishment, incorporation, and the reporting of program learning outcomes and curriculum recommendations. Coordinate duties and activities during unit lockdowns. Forward recommendations from faculty regarding textbook selection. Inform the Associate Vice President of TDCJ Correctional Programs of matters affecting the welfare of students, faculty, and the institution. Assist workforce and academic faculty with day-to-day activities and serve as a line of communication to the Associate Vice President of TDCJ Correctional Programs. Supervise the preparation and updating of course syllabi and assist workforce faculty with program LEAP’s. Other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisory staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be subject to adverse working or physical conditions within the TDCJ.
