GED
The General Educational Development (GED) certifies your academic knowledge in 4 subjects at an American or Candian high school level. Upon the successful completion of a single provider's exams, you will be issued a State of Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.
Please note. The 2002 GED Testing Series was replaced on January 2, 2014. Incomplete or insufficient GED scores from 2002 series are no longer valid.
You need a score of at least 145 to pass.

Before taking the GED, you must be registered with GED Testing Service.

Requirements
See the full list of requirements to take the GED. This includes:

- A valid government-issued ID
- Proving your Texas residency
- At least 18 years old
- Not enrolled in high school
- Not a high school graduate
Retesting
Don't give up! In Texas, there is no waiting period if you do not pass a subject area test the first time. After taking a test subject 3 times, you will have to wait 60 days before retesting. There is no limit to how many times you can test in a year.
