FAQs

General

• Location: Athens High School.  708 E. College Street, Athens, TX.
• Bag Policy: Athens ISD has a strict bag policy for graduates and guests.  
• Parking + Entrances: Courtesy shuttles available.  Graduation map highlights parking zones and entrances for guests and graduates.

Graduates

• Apply: Wait 3-4 weeks for an email response.  Final eligibility depends on semester grades.
• Check Email: Graduation details sent 2-3 weeks before semester ends.
• Attendance: Optional.
• Cap + Gown: Free cap and gown from the bookstore.  There is no dress code under your gown.  Cap decoration is allowed and you may compete in our cap decorating contest.
• Personal Items: Leave all items with your guests or in your vehicle.
• Arrival: Arrive at least 1 hour early and check in by your last initial.  Hold on to your name card.
• Line-Up: Begins 30 minutes before graduation.  There is no specific walking order.
• Crossing the Stage: Present name card, receive diploma tube, and take two professional photos.
• Photography: Your graduation photos are available online.  Register in advance for best results.  

Guests

• Venue Rules: No balloons, pets (except service animals), or floor access.
• No Guest Limit: All are welcome.  No tickets required.
• Accessibility: Contact Student Access and request accommodations 3 weeks in advance.
• Post-Ceremony: Celebrate outside to allow space for incoming ceremonies.
• Gifts: Available for purchase at the venue.
• Live Stream: Can't make it?  Watch the graduation online on our website.
