Hazlewood Act
The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does not include living expenses, books, or supply fees.
Prerequisites
In order to apply, you must:
- Register with the Texas Veterans Commission to track the total number of hours of exemption received.
- Complete TVCC's application and receive your Cardinal ID.
Applications
The application will walk you step-by-step through the entire process. Depending on which application you are completing, internal documentation will be provided in the Resources section below.
Applications must be resubmitted each academic year, beginning with the fall term. Supporting documentation does not need to be resubmitted annually unless there is a change in VA benefit status.
