Eligibility for Federal Student Aid at TVCC
To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
- Have a demonstrated financial need (see Steps to Apply for Aid)?
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
- Pursue a degree, certificate, or a transferable program, and not already possess an advanced degree (bachelor's degree or beyond, including foreign bachelor's degrees).
- Be in compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan
Eligibility for State Student Aid at TVCC
To be eligible for Texas state financial aid, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, or be certified as HB 1403 eligible
- Have a demonstrated financial need (see Steps to Apply for Aid)
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
- Pursue a degree, certificate, or a transferable program, and not already possess an advanced degree (bachelor's degree or beyond, including foreign bachelor's degrees).
- Be in compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy
