Trinity Valley Community College and the City of Athens presented scholarships to ten Athens High School graduates at Monday’s City Council meeting. The awards were the first installment of scholarships pledged to AHS graduates as a part of the college’s agreement to purchase the Central Park/Emergency Operations Center property. Juan Barcenas, Yarelli Castaneda, Tristian Chairez, Alexandria Lambert, Anthony Lopez, Taylor Martinez. Victor Morales. Hector Moreno, Tamiyah Thompson and Heather Thornton each received $250 scholarships from City Manager Philip Rodriguez and Mayor Monte Montgomery.
