Second Annual TVCC Welding Project Show A Success

The Trinity Valley Community College Welding Program hosted their second annual Welding Project Show on Friday, Apr. 26 with 17 high schools, and one 4-H club entering 55 total projects.

The Trinity Valley Community College Welding Program hosted their second annual Welding Project Show on Friday, Apr. 26 with 17 high schools, and one 4-H club entering 55 total projects.

The projects included anything from a chicken tractor, to a mini camper and everything in between.  “These projects represent the ability of these high school students in regards to imagination and skills in building these projects,” said TVCC Welding Instructor Tom Sheram.

Scholarship winners were Weston Beckman, John Feemster, Kassandra Clary of Cayuga High School, with the scholarship provided by Vulcraft of Grapeland and TVCC.  Josh Taylor and Shane Hapiuk of Whitesboro High School, with the scholarship provided by TVCC.  Mario Aleman of Palestine High School, with the scholarship provided by TVCC.  Sarah DeShazo of Kaufman High School, with the scholarship provided by Mitchell Welding Supply of Terrell and TVCC.

Victoria Smith of Thorndale FFA took home Grand Champion honors with her 16’ Entrance Gate.  Weston Beckman, John Feemster, Kassandra Clary, Richard Clary and Colby Glenn of Cayuga FFA had the Reserve Grand Champion entry with their 24’ Gooseneck Stock Trailer.

Others taking home prizes were: Jewel Santiago of Kaufman FFA; Taylor Reese, Jacob Kile, Mitchell Boyd, Nathan Mason, Landry Johnson, Colton Thumbelson and Shawn Shaddox of Eustace FFA; Hunter Mayberry , Trenton Taylor, Tyler Parker and Dalton Olson of Frankston FFA; Wyatt Poole, Prazos Marico and Lex Thompson of Fairfield FFA; Payden Druggins, Victor Mendoza, Isreal Ipina, Cesar Lopez, K. K. Weltmen, Alyssa Jones, Eric Cardozo and Carlos Llamas of Kerens FFA.

“We were very excited and pleased to be able to host an event of the type and have the support of TVCC Administration and local companies who helped us with donated scholarships and prizes,” said TVCC Welding Instructors Keith Patton and Tom Sheram.

The 2019 sponsors include: Mitchell Welding Supply of Terrell, Vulcraft of Grapeland, Matheson Welding Supply of Palestine, Green Arc Welding Supply of Palestine, Coburn Supply Company of Athens, and Pferd Grinding Disc - USA.
