High school students from across northeast Texas had the opportunity to test their knowledge in various business-related competitions on Friday, January 19, when Trinity Valley Community College played host to a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Area VI Leadership Conference.

Area students gathered to compete in subjects including business communication, organizational leadership, public speaking, business ethics, social media campaign and many more.

The 250 students and 35 advisors represented nine area high schools including Alto, Athens, Chapel Hill Mount Pleasant, Hallsville, John Tyler, LaPoynor, Irving MacArthur, Irving Nimitz and Mount Pleasant.

This area competition prepared students for the state leadership conference in March, and provided a great networking opportunity for participants.

FBLA is a nationwide organization that aims to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
