Board Search Committee

The TVCC Presidential Search Committee is charged with recommending to the Board of Trustees a panel of finalists to serve as the next President. The candidates must be highly qualified to lead TVCC. The Board of Trustees retains the final right to appoint the president.

The search must be conducted with careful attention to input from TVCC’s many constituencies. A public webpage on the college website dedicated to the search will be established.

The Board Search Committee itself is not charged with representing a specific constituency. Each member represents the institution as a whole, and is charged to find a strong, highly qualified leader for the college.

The Board Search Committee in tandem with the Presidential Advisory committee should identify candidates who are exemplary leaders with a thorough understanding of the mission and challenges of a medium sized institution. This person will be a strategic visionary and thinker, an excellent communicator, and an accomplished fund- and friend-raiser.

The Board is interested in candidates who are student- centered and respectful of faculty, staff, and the traditions of the College, and who will play an active role in the everyday life of the institution.

Through multiple interviews and detailed reference and background checks, the search committees will identify and submit to the Board a panel of candidates that the committees deem worthy of the Board’s consideration.

The Co-Chairs of the committee will establish rules and guidelines that will maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding personnel matters. Confidentiality shall be maintained by the Board of Trustees and the search committee members. Subject to this constraint, the co-chairs of the search committee will make periodic reports to the Board regarding the search progress.

The next president of TVCC is expected to be announced during early/mid Spring 2023. At the end of the successful search process, the committee will dissolve.
