LOCATION:  Athens Campus


SALARY: $72,702 - $79,971

Five (5) years of experience of work-related experience, including, but not limited to, economic or entrepreneurial development, business advising, budget development/management, project planning, capital acquisition, and business development. Experienced in supervising staff to meet program objectives.


Five (5) years of work-related experience, including, but not limited to, business knowledge and marketing skills, with the knowledge of business requirements and support methodologies. 

Experience establishing solid business relationships with local commercial lenders, economic development specialists, community, and business leaders.  The ability to read and understand personal and business financial statements, tax returns, and other financial data.

A strong understanding of SBA resources and loan programs. 




Supervision of SBDC office staff and advisors.  Direction and the monitoring of program activities and financial affairs of the SBDC to deliver effective services to the small business community, comply with applicable laws, regulations, OMB Circulars and Executive Orders, and implementation of the cooperative agreement.  Compliance and implementation of ASBDC Accreditation Standards.  Operating within the established host institution policies and procedures.  SBDC Director must have authority over the following areas or functions of the SBDC program:  Management of daily operations; Allocation of resources; Budget development and expenditure authority; SBDC personnel hiring and termination decisions; Designing personnel requirements and duties; Interacting with key stakeholders.  Assignment of clients to business advisors based on client need and advisor expertise.  Develop and report of all Semi-Annual and Annual Program Narrative Reports. The narrative reports must be substantive and must not contain recitations of previously submitted content.  Submission of two nominations to the North Texas SBDC through  during the annual SBA Award Nomination cycle.  Submission of annual program and financial reviews, which must be reviewed and signed by the Sub-recipient host leadership.  Report at a minimum four client success stories annually.  Oversight and management of SBDC budgets.  Achieve annual advising hour goals as per North Texas SBDC Network goal requirements.  Responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the services provided by business advisors at the SBDC center.  Ensure all SBDC staff provide appropriate referrals by following the referral requirements as described in the SBDC Network’s policies.  Annually submit the listing of the ‘Referral of 3 Resource Listing” for the market area upon submission of the NTSBDC Conflict of Interest for the current grant year. Submissions must be sent to  Coordinate and maintain client files and records related to annual SBA and SBDC audits.  Take on tasks as needed to meet the goals of the SBDC organization and potential clients.  Represent SBDC in discussions with financial supervisors.  Maintain confidentiality regarding potential and current SBDC clients.  Assist the business advisors in advising clients and offering guidance.  Participate in semi-annual financial audits by Dallas/North Texas SBDC Financial Officer.  Work collaboratively with the TVCC business office and staff.  Represent Trinity Valley SBDC office as the administrator of the office/division.  Perform tasks as assigned by direct TVCC supervisor and/or North Texas SBDC supervisor.



Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.  Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.  Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.  Plans, monitors, and appraises job performance annually, and provides constructive feedback and coaching.  Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.  Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.  Completes operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, and gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures.  Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.  Ensure quality and customer service standards are adhered to as a department.  Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.  Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the college’s plans and vision.  Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
