RN to Paramedic
Are you interested in becoming a a flight nurse? Now is your opportunity! TVCC is now offering a one-semester RN-to-Paramedic certificate program for RNs licensed to practice in Texas, who have their EMT basic certification. This program will focus on the knowledge and skills of the paramedics that RNs don't already have, including trauma assessment and treatment for trauma emergencies, cardiology assessment including 12 lead ECG interpretation, airway management & maneuvers (Including Rapid Sequence Intubation) and other emergencies. Interested nurses should have current BLS/CPR provider, ACLS provider or instructor, and PALS/PEPP provider or instructor certification. PHTLS or ITLS provider certifications are recommended. Students will complete physical exam and immunizations, criminal background check and drug screen prior to attending clinical.
Interested students should register for EMSP 2553, EMSP 1356 and EMSP 2463. To accommodate the working nurse, the class will be offered in a hybrid format with some of the theory content provided on-line with some class material covered on Saturdays from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm along with the skills labs. The 256 hours of clinical can be scheduled at the convenience of the student. A minimum of 12 students are needed for the class to make so bring a friend and experience this together! The sections numbers for these courses for spring 2019 are: 4528, 4306 and 4305. Students who have registered for the college can register through their Cardinal Connection beginning November 19, 2018.
