Campus Housing FAQs

Will student housing be available during the fall semester?

Yes, TVCC will offer on-campus student housing in fall 2021.

When can students move into campus housing?

Students with completed housing applications can move in beginning Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 9 am - 12 noon and 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Students can also move in during these same times on Thursday, August 19, 2021 and Friday, August 20, 2021. NOTE: Wednesday, August 18, 2021 is the last day to register for classes.

When will housing assignments be announced?

Letters will be mailed to students by the end of the week of July 23, 2021. Included in that letter will be their move-in assignment and other information concerning move-in.

  Will there be face-to-face classes?

TVCC will offer classes as normal unless otherwise determined as it relates COVID-19 health and safety protocol.

What guidelines will be in place for move-in day?

We are having dorm students sign a waiver/release long with the housing contract that indicates the student understands that they should follow all recommended CDC protocols and other institutional measures that are allowed in order to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

How will TVCC ensure social distancing within housing?

CDC and social distancing guidelines will be recommended in all dormitories in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Should I wear a mask or face covering on campus?

TVCC is encouraging everyone on campus - including employees and contract workers - to wear masks or face coverings when in the presence of others and when social distancing is not possible. Please note that TVCC is not allowed by the State of Texas to mandate masks and face coverings.

Am I required to wear a mask or face covering while in my room or dorm?

Masks and face coverings are not required when students are in their rooms. While masks and face coverings cannot be mandated, TVCC encourages its campus residents to discuss with their roommates their expectations regarding masks and face coverings at the start of the semester. If a dorm student, or any student, should develop COVID-19 symptoms, we are encouraging the wearing of masks or face coverings until a healthcare professional can be consulted and/or the student can be relocated if availability allows.

Do I need to wear a mask or face covering in the hallways or other areas of my dorm?

Masks or face coverings are not required, but encouraged, while in common areas and hallways.

What happens if I violate the COVID-19 dorm policies?

TVCC takes the health and safety of its students and employees very seriously. Students found violating enforceable COVID-19 and other policies that put the health and safety of the students and employees will face the possibility of being removed from the dorm for the remainder of the semester.

Do I need to let someone know if I return home for the weekend or go out of town?

No, you do not need to let someone know if you return home for the weekend or go out of town. However, you may be asked where you have been should you test positive for Covid-19, been in close contact for 15 minutes or more, or had physical contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 in to provide proper and accurate contact tracing.

What happens if a student in campus housing tests positive for COVID-19?

Dorm students who test positive for COVID-19 will be asked to return to their permanent residence and follow the CDC guidelines for returning from self-isolation or quarantine. Students that are not able to return to their permanent residence may be moved to facility designated for self-isolation, if available. Students requiring medical care will be treated as appropriate by medical professionals.

Will TVCC offer refunds for students who choose to check out of the dorm during the semester due to COVID-19?

TVCC will follow the housing agreement that students sign at check in as it relates to dorm refunds.  Please visit the housing webpage to view the refund policy.
