FIRE PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY
FIRE PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY AAS
The Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology is a 60 semester hour program
designed for students interested in a career in the fire protection field, either as a professional
firefighter or as a fire protection technician. This degree program enables students to become
eligible for the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Fire Officer 1, Basic Fire Inspector,
and Basic Fire/Arson Investigator certifications after successfully completing a TCFP skills
examination. Graduates of any Texas Fire Commission certified Basic Firefighter Academy who
successfully pass the State Certification Exam and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours
required in the TVCC AAS Fire Protection Technology degree may be granted 12 semester
hours of credit. Some students may be eligible for tuition and lab fee exemption if certain
requirements are met. Students should contact the Terrell Campus Guidance Office for more
information about the Fire Science program.
