MARKETABLE SKILLS CERTIFICATES
A Marketable Skills Certificate is a sequence of credit courses totaling 9-14 SCH or workforce continuing
education courses of 144-359 contact hours. These awards meet the minimum standard for program length
specified by the Texas Workforce Commission for the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program.
Characteristics of marketable skills achievement awards include the following:
•
MSC’s prepare students for employment in accordance with guidelines for the Workforce
Investment Act.
•
The award is TSI-waived—not pre-college exam required.
•
The content was recommended by the Medical/Nursing Assistant advisory committee.
•
The award is composed of workforce preparation courses.
