1. The tutor's role is to reinforce what is taught by instructor in class.

2. Tutors enable students to become autonomous, self-motivated learners.

3. Tutors are competent in their content area.

4. Tutors bridge the gap between the institution, faculty and staff, and the student.

5. Tutors are role-models of successful academic and social behaviors.

6. Tutors provide a safe, supportive learning-centered environment for student motivation.

7. Tutor, know they tutee.

8. Tutor, be professional. (i.e. courteous, prompt, prepared, focused, etc.)
