"Hail Mary" Dallas Cowboy Wide-Receiver, Drew Pearson, Speaking December 1 at East Texas Small Business Conference

Roger Staubach will always be known as “Captain Comeback” for his charisma and ability to lead his team to many come-from-behind victories during his career. But while the legendary quarterback seemed to always put the Cowboys in position to win, he still needed a go-to receiver to come up with the big reception in the clutch. And more often than not, that player was Drew Pearson.

Thursday, December 1, the Kilgore College SBDC is teaming up with the East Texas area Economic Development Corporations and Chambers of Commerce to bring the “East Texas Small Business Conference,” to Longview, with keynote speaker Drew Pearson - former Dallas Cowboy “Hail Mary” Wide Receiver.  Over the course of his career, Drew Pearson caught 489 receptions for 7,822 yards and 48 touchdowns. He was a three-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection and led the NFC in 1976 with 58 catches. He is one of the Top 20 Pro Football All-Time Leading Receivers and was named to the 1970’s NFL Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team. He played in Super Bowls X, XII and XIII.   While every Dallas Cowboy fan will have their favorite Pearson memory, none could stand out more than his “Hail Mary” touchdown reception from Staubach to beat the Vikings in the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoffs.

The East Texas Small Business Conference will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview, Texas.  The fee is $25 and includes a catered lunch provided by Johnny Cace’s Seafood and Steakhouse at 11:30 a.m. and entry into all day conference events.  The conference will be kicked off by Master of Ceremonies, Joe Terrell, KLTV News Anchor, along with SBA Regional Administrator, Yolanda Olivarez, and a ceremony from the Longview Fire and Police Departments.  Our keynote speaker, Drew Pearson, will begin his presentation “From the locker room to the board room” at noon, sharing highlights of his football career and his transition into the business world.  Pearson will allow time for a Q&A session followed by a meet & greet, book signing and photo opportunity.  Presentation of the Community Small Business of the Year Awards from the participating communities will also be held at this time.
