Hardware Replacement Schedule

Below is a computer hardware and printer replacement guide to assist you in you budget planning process in the coming years.

 

Level A—Plan to replace in 2009-10

PC's with Pentium IV processors > 2.8 GHz
Laptops with Pentium Mobile processors
Printers: HP 4200/4300/4650

 

Level B—Plan to replace in 2008-09

PC's with Pentium IV processors > 2.2GHz and < 2.8GHz
Printers: HP 4100/4600

 

Level C—Plan to replace in 2007-08

PC's with Pentium IV processors > 1.6 GHz and < 2.2 GHz
Printers: HP 4050/4550/5000

Level D—Plan to replace in 2006-07

PC's with Pentium IV processors < 1.6 GHz
PC's with Pentium III processors > 850 MHz
Printers: HP 4000/4500

 

Level E*—Plan to replace in 2005-06
PC's with Pentium III processors > 500 MHz and < 850 MHz

Level F**—Not supported
All PC's with processors < Pentium III < 500 MHZ are no longer supported.
All HP Printers < 4000 Series are not supported by IT Services.

 
 

* Level E computers will not be supported by ITS after December 31, 2006.

** Level F computers are not supported by ITS . In addition, Windows 98 and earlier operating system versions will no longer be supported after December 31, 2005. If your hardware is not capable of supporting Windows XP Professional you should consider upgrading.

Note: It is recommended that you run Windows XP with Service Pack 2. ITS will not support computers with Windows XP home edition. IT Services does not support the Apple Mac or the Linux operating systems.

Non Supported

All PC's and printers not listed above.
IT Services does not support stand alone (non-network printers)

Don't know your processor or MHz?

If you do not know the processor speed of the computer in your office you can use the following procedure to determine what processor your computer is using.

  • Click on Start (on the task bar at the bottom of the screen) then select Run .
  • In the text box enter the following:
    \\a-dc1\netlogon\sysinfo


    hint : copy and paste the above information in red.
  • Click OK

Please note that it may take several seconds for the program to complete. Please be patient while the program gathers information about your computer.
