VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: College Readiness/Tech Prep Coordinator LOCATION: Athens Campus SALARY: Per TVCC Salary Schedule 12 month contract APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 6, 2008 or until filled QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred. Two years of related experience required. Experience working in a community college is preferred. Demonstrated ability to build successful partnerships between colleges and public schools. Familiarity with community college curriculum. Knowledge of Tech Prep initiatives. Experience teaching at either the community college or high school level is preferred. Knowledge of high school dual credit requirements is preferred. Position contingent upon continued funding. DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Instruction for Academic Education and Institutional Planning, the incumbent will be responsible for the planning and coordinating of the College’s dual credit program. Duties include but are not limited to: Assist in the coordination, implementation, and set-up for conferences, training sessions, and meetings to support tech prep, articulated credit, college readiness, dual credit, or other P-16 innovations. Actively participate in partnership meetings, task forces, committees and councils. Work closely with academic units and local ISD’s to develop, revise, and disseminate relevant college readiness standards. Serve as the College Readiness Special Advisor to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Develop, in conjunction with the appropriate Assistant Vice President, the instructional plan for dual credit courses and tech prep articulated credit with each of the 27 high schools within the TVCC service area. Attend high school information events to disseminate information concerning TVCC dual credit offerings, tech prep articulated credit, college readiness standards, and other P-16 Initiatives. Work with high school counselors, in concert with the TVCC Registrar, to recruit and enroll to dual credit learners. Work with high school counselors, in concert with the Assistant Vice President of Workforce Education, to articulate tech prep credit. Develop and maintain dual credit handbook and webpage. Assist Assistant Vice President of Workforce Education and Business Relations in drafting, preparing, and maintaining annual 6-year tech prep plans and articulation agreements between colleges and local high schools. Submit and maintain appropriate documentation relating to THECB and TEA for tech prep articulation agreements. Serve as the TVCC Early College High School Coordinator for the Pinnacle Project. Must effectively manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines; and work independently as well as collaboratively. Must effectively function as a team member in developing and implementing P-16 projects. Must be available for travel, both in and out-of-state, to attend appropriate professional meetings. Other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisory personnel. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Within the general range of an office or classroom environment. Must be able to travel as needed.
