While we expect honors students to have a successful academic background and academic skills, this alone does not define the student who should investigate REACH.

REACH is not a program of "extra work". Yes, you will have assignments, projects, and even grading scales that may differ from the mainstream syllabus, but these differences most often represent differences, not additions. Your work will stress creativity, critical thinking, and individuality. You will be allowed to examine each honors syllabus before deciding which classes you want to take within the REACH curriculum. Students are expected to take at least one honors course each semester, but no more than two honors courses each semester, without special approval from the Honors Director. Students who complete at least twelve hours of honors work and maintain a 3.0 overall GPA will receive special distinction during their graduation ceremony.
