Honors
Offerings
Please note that many classes can be taken as an
honors course, but must be approved by the professor and the honors
director. If in doubt, see the professor first. Admission to a
particular course, even if you have been accepted into the program, is
at the discretion of the professor.
While all classes are potentially available for honors
credit, summer classes, internet classes, and those classes which are
not for university transfer are not available for honors credit. |

| WHAT
IS REACH? |
|
|
| REACH
is
the name of the Trinity Valley Community College Honors Program. The name
is an acronym that means: Reaching Excellence Academically and Culturally
through Honors. |

|
| WHO
ARE HONOR STUDENTS? |
|
|
While
we expect honors students to have a successful academic background and
academic skills, this alone does not define the student who should investigate
REACH. |

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN REACH COURSE WORK? |
|
| |
|
| |
REACH
is not a program of "extra work". Yes, you will have
assignments, projects, and even grading scales that may differ from
the mainstream syllabus, but these differences most often represent differences,
not additions. Your work will stress creativity, critical thinking,
and individuality. You will be allowed to examine each honors syllabus
before deciding which classes you want to take within the REACH
curriculum. Students are expected to take at least one honors course each
semester, but no more than two honors courses each semester, without special
approval from the Honors Director. Students who complete at least twelve
hours of honors work and maintain a 3.0 overall GPA will receive special
distinction during their graduation ceremony. |
