Vocational Nursing Program

IMPORTANT! If you don't already have your hepatitis B vaccinations - get started now. The usual timing of vaccinations is the first shot, a 2nd in a month and a 3rd at 6 months after the 1st. If time becomes an issue, the CDC recommends an accelerated schedule of the first shot, the 2nd in 4 weeks and the 3rd at 4 months after the 1st.  If you are accepted into the VN program in Palestine, the first two Hep B vaccinations must be completed by July 1, 2008. If you are accepted into the VN program in Kaufman, the first two Hep B vaccinations must be completed by December 1, 2008. Due to the cost we recommend going to Outreach Clinics or the Public Health Departments.

Click on the VN program brochure to see the current procedure and access the application.  *** The application for the VN Class of 2009 in Kaufman is now available in the VN brochure.  It will be available until September 15, 2008. The application for the VN Palestine class starting in the fall of 2009 will be available starting September 15, 2008.

The Vocational Nursing Program at Trinity Valley Community College is a one-year, 58 credit hour curriculum leading to a certificate in Vocational Nursing. Graduates are recommended to the Texas Board of Nursing to be approved to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) to qualify as a licensed vocational nurse. The Health Occupations Division has two vocational nursing programs. The Kaufman program begins annually each spring semester and the Palestine program begins each fall semester. Questions for the Texas Board of Nursing can be directed to (512) 305-7400.

There is a selections process for this program.  For more information, review the appropriate information in the Vocational Nursing Program brochure. If you have any questions, e-mail us at VN@tvcc.edu.

Application Deadline for Palestine is January 31st! Application Deadline for Kaufman is September 15th!
