Career planning involves evaluation and decision-making based on information about oneself and the world of work.
The TVCC Career Center offers the current or prospective student the opportunity to accomplish this task.
The Career Center is located in the Administration Building on the Athens campus in room 124. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
The Career Center houses many valuable resources for the student to use to help the career planning process go smoothly. There are books, magazines, college catalogs, college and university transfer information, job boards, and computer resources, just to name a few.
Career planning also involves evaluation through assessment. Some things to consider when choosing a career are one's skills, values, interests, personality type, preferred work environment, and the amount of education you plan to get. The Career Center can provide the tools you need to make these determinations.
Think of career planning as a lifelong process that you have already begun whether you know it or not. Each experience that you have had, are having, or will have contributes to this process. These influences can be channeled into specific career clusters to help you narrow down or select choices.
