ACADEMIC ADVISING
The main purpose of academic advising is to help students develop a meaningful educational plan which is compatible with their life goals.
Each academic term the student meets with an advisor to review progress toward the educational goals that have been established.
The student and advisor refine goals and objectives, reach an understanding of what choices are available, and determine the consequences of different courses of action. Advisement consists of course selection; understanding and meeting institutional requirements; and providing clear and accurate information regarding institutional policies, procedures, resources, and programs.
Degree plans are printed for each student to make sure that the courses that are selected apply toward graduation requirements and are relevant to the student’s major.
UNIVERSITY TRANSFER
TVCC participates in the Texas common courses numbering system which is designed to assist students who are transferring between institutions within the system.

The following sites will provide students information on courses they should take before transferring to the university. Students will be able to review courses in order to take the correct classes that will transfer toward their degree.
Students will be able to browse the sites and connect to admissions, transfer students, and receive helpful tips on how to make their transition from a two year college to a four year college easier.
