Receiving a passing grade requires the completion of Chapters
13, 14, and 16 and the Final Exam. An IP may be given to
students who attend class and complete assignments and tests but who do not pass
the course. An F is given for incomplete work and/or lack of
effort.
Course Requirements:
·
Homework is required and must be turned in on assigned dates. If
you are absent from class, you are still responsible for turning
in the day’s assignment by the scheduled due date.
·
There will be a quiz given each class period based on the
previous class assignment. These will be given within the first
15 minutes of class. In the event, that you are absent or late,
quizzes may not be made up.
·
Tests will be given on assigned dates. If you have to be absent
on a test day, let me know in advance if possible.
If you fail a test, you may re-take the test.
In order to re-take or make up a test, you will have to
complete a work assignment for the information covered on the
test. Highest possible
score on re-takes or make up tests is a 70. Review or bonus
points do not count on re-takes or make-up tests.
·
Only four function calculators allowed to complete tests.
·
Cell phones may not be used as
calculators on tests.
·
Notes and handouts will be in the box by the door. Pick these up
when you come to class.
·
If you take and pass
the THEA Test at any time during the semester, bring a copy of
your results to me. At which time, we will discuss your grade
for the course.
·

Adherence to attendance policy(addressed below) expected
Attendance Policy for
Developmental Math classes
Students enrolled in developmental math classes must adhere to
specific course requirements. This course meets for a specified
time period as prescribed by the college. You are expected to be
on time and stay the entire lecture period. If you are
consistently late to class, tardies will count towards absences.
Three tardies will count as one absence. Students who accumulate
three weeks of absences will be subject to being dropped from
the course. After 3 absences, a warning letter will be sent to
the student. After 6 absences, students will be dropped from the
course. Our goal in this course is to improve your math skills
so that you may successfully pass the THEA and/or College
Algebra class. That is not possible, if you are not in class.
Please, feel free to talk with me concerning problems you may
have with the course. You may come by my office, if you prefer
not to speak out in class.
Office hours will be posted by my door.
