Receiving a passing grade requires the completion of sections
from Chapters 9,10, 11, 12 and
a grade of 70 on
each of the Chapter Tests and the Final Exam. An IP may be
given to students who
attend class and complete assignments and tests, but do not
pass the course. An F is given for incomplete work and/or lack
of effort.
Course Requirements:
·
There will be a quiz at the beginning of each class period based
on the previous class assignment. These will be given and taken
up within the first 15 minutes of class. In the event that you
are absent or late to class, quizzes may not be made up.
·
Lab work will be completed during lab class period.
·
Homework will be assigned each class and must be turned in on
following class day.
·
Tests will be given on assigned dates. If you have to be absent
on a test day, let me know in advance if possible.
If you fail a test, you
may re-take the test.
In order to re-take or make up a test, you will have to
complete a work assignment for the information covered on the
test.
·
Highest possible grade on re-takes or make-ups is a 70.
·
Review points or bonus points do not count on make-up tests.
·
On tests, you may use a four function calculator only.
·
If you take and pass the THEA Test at any time during the
semester, bring a copy of your results to me. At which time, we
will discuss your grade for the course.
·
Notes and hand-outs for each class day will be in the box by the
door. Pick these up when you come in to class.
Classroom Etiquette:
·
No cell phones, pagers or any
other electronic device on during class.
·

Attendance Policy for
Developmental Math classes
Students enrolled in developmental math classes must adhere to
specific course requirements set by the state of
Texas. This course meets for a specified time period as
prescribed by the college. You are expected to be on time and
stay for the entire lecture period and in lab class until the
assigned work is completed. Students who accumulate three weeks
of absences will be subject to being dropped from the course.
Lecture and Lab are two separate classes. If you miss both, they
count as 2 absences. After 6 absences, a warning letter will be
sent to the student. After 12 absences, students will be dropped
from the course. Our goal in this course is to improve your math
skills so that you may successfully pass the THEA and/or College
Algebra class. That is not possible, if you are not in class.
Please, feel free to talk with me concerning problems you may
have with the course. You may come by my office, if you prefer
not to speak out in class.
Office hours will be posted by my door.
