ATTENTION:  Ideally, your name will have been entered into our WebCT system by the first day of the term, but sometimes it takes a day or two longer.  Simply try to log on each day, according to the directions below, and eventually you will be able to.  Please note, in the directions below, that students using AOL as their access to the Internet will need to take an extra step in logging on.


Logging on to WebCT for the first time:

You must log on from this address, typed into your browser:  http://courses.tvcc.edu

Here is the format for the User ID and Password that you have been assigned for logging on to WebCT:

         User ID:
         Your last name first initial and last four digits of your Social Security number   (no spaces and no caps)

         Password:
         Last four digits of SS#

Sample student Mary Beal with the SS#  123-45-6789  would use:
 bealm6789   and     6789

You are now ready to click here to log on to WebCT for the first time. Save the log-on page in your favorites or bookmarks for easy access.  

IMPORTANT!  After you have logged on, if you cannot view all the pages in WebCT or get an error message anywhere, check below for trouble-shooting instructions.

AOL Users: The AOL browser does not fully support WebCT. To get around this problem, access the Internet with AOL as usual, then minimize AOL, and bring up either Internet Explorer or Netscape, whichever browser is on your PC.  Then type http://courses.tvcc.edu to log on.

TROUBLE-SHOOTING:

If you are having trouble seeing the WebCT pages, or if you keep getting error messages, go to http://www.tvcc.edu and find Distance Learning and click on WebCT Information. The next page you see is called WebCT at TVCC.

Find out if you need to update your browser or adjust your cache and java settings. The directions are given for how to do these things. We are using Version 3.0 of WebCT.
