IMED 1316

   I.   COURSE NUMBER, NAME, AND PREREQUISITE:

         IMED 1316, Web Page Design 1

         Prerequisite: COSC 1401 or approval of instructor.

   II.   COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Instruction in the use of the Internet and the fundamentals of HTML, web page design and web site development.

  III.  TEXTBOOK:

New Perspectives HTML and XHTML, Comprehensive (4th edition) by Patrick Carey, Thomson, Course Technology, 2005, pp. 578.

  IV.  METHODS OF EVALUATION AND GRADING:

           A. Assignments - 50%  

Students will create 6 web sites, one every other week. The directions for these sites will be a step-by-step process through the new material to be learned for that week.

    B. Homework - 30%  

Students will create 2 smaller sites for homework every other week. The directions for these sites will expect the students to apply the new material for the week without the step-by-step process.

    C. Written Tests - 10%  

  There will be 3 written tests: one after Tutorial 2, one after Tutorial 4, and one after Tutorial 6

    D. Final - 10%

The Final exam will be a 5-page site created by the students. The instructor will give the directions for the home page and the students will create the other 4 pages using their own data.

    V.  TEST DATES

         A. Written tests will be given during the 5th week, 10th week, and 15th week.

  B. Final exam will be during the 15th week.
