Doesn't that title look adventurous?
Welcome to the part of my website that will contain a personal journal that I will try to
update with some kind of regularity. This project is inspired by a couple of things.
One of those things is the fact that I use journals in many of my
classes and students often ask me for an example of what "can be done" in them.
Since I don't ever keep student journals from semester to semester (they leave the class
with the individual student) I don't have anything that I can hand over as a physical
example. So, therefore, what I am doing here will serve as an example of one person's
personal journal. Just because I do certain things here doesn't mean that you can do only
those things.
The other reason that I am starting this is because of the
influence of Dr. Louis Schmier, a man whose
work and philosophy I greatly admire. If you have serious concerns about the state of
educational institutions today or especially if you are thinking of becoming a teacher,
click on his name and visit his Random Thoughts website. Heck, go there even if you AREN'T
interested in education, but just want to read something thought provoking.
Until I really get going, the offerings
here are likely to be rather slim, but they will grow with time. Just like we all do.
