Costs

Tuition

The cost for dual credit students depends on where they live. Tuition is waived for all dual credit students for up to 2 courses per semester. However, fees differ for in-district and out-of-district students. Please see the list below to determine which high schools are in or out of the TVCC taxpaying district and refer to the Dual Credit Enrollment Costs schedule to determine dual credit enrollment costs.

In-District Schools:  Athens, Athens ECHS-Pinnacle, Athens Christian Preparatory, Brownsboro, Crandall, Cross Roads, Eustace, Frankston, Kaufman, Kemp, LaPoynor, Mabank, Malakoff, Poetry Community Christian, Scurry-Rosser, Terrell, and Trinidad.

Out-of-District Schools:  Canton, Cayuga, Edgewood, Elkhart, Forney, North Forney, Fruitvale, Martins Mill, Neches, Rains, Slocum, Westwood, and Wills Point.

Who pays for dual credit courses?

That depends. Several options exist. Students may pay all associated costs, while some school districts pay all or part of their students’ tuition. High schools are not required to pay the college tuition or fees for dual credit courses, so students should check with their high school counselor to be certain what fees will be incurred by the student.

Textbooks and Course Materials

Students are required to pay for their own textbooks and supplies. The cost varies per course, but students should expect the average price a new book to be $150. Students may recoup some of their textbook costs by participating in the college bookstore's buyback program at the end of each semester.

It is the student's responsibility to go the bookstore website to determine what books and/or access codes are required for their courses.  Students may also physically go to one of the bookstore locations, call the bookstore for information, log into their Cardinal Connection account, or look at the online course syllabus to determine required materials for the course.

TVCC has bookstores located on each of its campuses as well as an online store, so that students may purchase their textbooks and any other materials they may need for their courses. The bookstore selects textbooks from a list submitted by the instructors for all courses offered. To find the correct materials for your class, you need to have the name and number of the course in which you are registered.
