The Manual Drafting Lab

This classroom / lab consists of 16 large drafting tables.

The student will use these tables in conjunction with two types of drafting machines. The older style swingarm drafting machine, and the newer Vemco® V-track style. The student can purchase a drafting kit at the Campus Bookstore, consisting of a 30º-60° triangle, a 45° triangle, mechanical pencils, extra lead, architect scale, engineering scale, metric scale, circle template, ellipse template, irregular curve, drawing instrument kit(large compass, small compass, dividers, bow extension, extra lead, and extra tips), eraser, metal eraser shield, and Ames® lettering guide.

This classroom / lab is used for several classes that implement the basic theory of drafting. Geometric construction, line quality, lettering skills, and design drawing techniques are emphasized. This classroom is also used for some drafting classes that place emphasis on the design process, such as Structural Detailing and Strength in Materials.
