Introduction:
This course is designed to
acquaint you with the principle concepts involved in the selection, operation,
use, and maintenance of farm and ranch engines and tractors. It also includes basic economic factors and
adaptability of various selected engines and tractors for various uses.
Objectives and
Competencies:
Upon completion of this
course you will be able to:
1. Understand the principle concepts involved n the
selection, operations, use, and maintenance of farm and ranch engines and
tractors.
2. Make logical analysis and use sound judgment when
selecting power units for use on the farm and ranch.

Course Requirements:
1. Attend Class and lab regularly and participate in
discussion, class projects, and lab assignments.
2. Take the two major exams, complete all lab
assignments, and take the final exam.
3. If you are absent on exam day the exam may be taken
with your final exam at the end of the semester provided you have a doctor’s
excuse for your absence.
Semester Grade
Computation:
1. Your presence in class, class participation, and
interest is important to your overall class average. A total of three TTh unexcused absences will
be allowed with no penalty. Beyond that,
the student’s final course grade will be dropped by 4 points for each unexcused
absence. Please see Attendance

2. Each major exam will count 25%.
3. Lab assignments count 25%.
4. The final exam will count 25%.
