COURSE=20 DESCRIPTION:=20 This=20 course is a continuation of COSC 1336 =96 Programming Fundamentals = I. As was=20 the intent of the beginning course, students should continue to = develop a=20 solid foundation in programming with Visual Basic, using the 2005=20 platform. The text=20 teaches programming from a task-driven rather than a = command-driven=20 approach. By working through the chapters, students learn how to = use VB=20 applications found in the workplace. Specific topic coverage = includes:=20 designing applications; using variables and constants; selection=20 structures; repetition structures; sub and function procedures;=20 manipulating strings; sequential access files and printing; = arrays;=20 database concepts; and classes and objects.

     =20 Assignments. There are 12 Chapters in the = textbook.=20 In COSC 1336, chapters 1-6 were covered. In this course we will = cover the=20 remaining chapters 7-12. For each assignment there will be 2 = Instruction=20 files to download & save from Blackboard. One will be a MS = Word=20 document containing chapter instructions and the other will be a = document=20 for you to fill out regarding the assignment you just completed. = You will=20 upload & submit that Supplement document and any zipped data = files=20 required for completion of assignment.

 

     =20 Textbook Organization. As you reflect on the=20 structure of the textbook, each chapter consists of Lessons A-C. = Homework=20 Assignments (15%) consist of=85 working thru the chapter coding = example, and=20 answering the multiple choice questions at the end of each lesson. = Programming Assignments (60%) consists of writing programs of the=20 Instructor=92s choice from the Exercise sections in each=20 Chapter.

 

     =20 Testing. For reinforcement, each chapter will = have a=20 quiz available that does not count for a grade, but will help you = prepare=20 for the multiple choice tests. Quizzes can be taken multiple times = until=20 expiration date. Quizzes expire 1 hour prior to the time of the = REAL exam.=20 You will have a midterm exam (15%) and a final exam (10%). = Passwords will=20 be issued to your host testing centers at the appropriate time = frame. On=20 test day be sure to bring your driver=92s license and valid = student ID.=20 There will be due dates, strictly enforced.
