Course Description:

The course is a study of t= he LAW FOR BUSINESS.

Instructional Methods:

This course is offered as an integrated program of independent distan= ce education study. The textbook, Law for Business, 16^thEdition, contains end of chapter activities that include questions and case studies. As an independent co= urse of study, the student should read the textbook and complete the end-of-chap= ter questions/cases when required. Course exams, chapter quizzes, and case discussions will come from the text. =

E= xams:

The course will have three (3) exams; one exam each for parts 1-3, parts 4-6, and parts 7-9 of the text.&= nbsp; Each exam will consist of a combination of 50 objective type questio= ns. VCT students should contact thei= r VCT Counselor or college testing center to make arrangements to take their exam= s. A TVCC student will take an exam a= t a testing center or Learning Resource Center at the Athens, Palesti= ne, or Terrell campus. Make arrangements with your testing center IN ADVANCE for your testing dates and times!!

C= hapter Quizzes:

Quizzes for each chapter of the text will be available online for the student. They will not requir= e a password, and can be taken three (3) times each to prepare for the regular = exam covering the same part of the text. Credit will be given for quizzes attempted, by allowing the highest grade of the three (3) attempts, to be recorded and averaged. This average = will become a part of the student’s course grade average.

C= ase Discussions:

Specific case studies will be assigned from the parts of the text. They will be listed in the discuss= ion module of Blackboard at the appropriate time throughout the semester. Points will be assigned to each st= udent for their discussion responses. These will be averaged to become a part of the course grade average.=

C= ourse Grade Computation:

The course grade will be computed as follows:

        Three exams – 36% of co= urse grade

           Discussions ̵= 1; 18% of course grade

  Chapter Quizzes – 46% of course grade

Minimum grade for:

      &= nbsp;   A – 90.0

      &= nbsp;   B – 80.0

      &= nbsp;   C – 70.0

      &= nbsp;   D – 60.0

      &= nbsp;   F –    0.0

C= ourse Completion Requirements:

To receive full credit, all exams, discussions, and quizzes must be completed and submitted on time (consult the assignment calendar on the cou= rse web site). Late assignments w= ill not be accepted.

Course Access on Bla= ckboard:

A= ll course communication will take place via Blackboard e-mail without exception. Students will be allowed to log-on= to the TVCC Blackboard website after the 1^st class day of the semes= ter. The student log in and passwo= rd are now the same (Example log in: doej1234 Password: Doej1234), except the first letter of the password will be capitalized. Upon initial login, the student wi= ll have to create an 8-digit password that conforms to the strong password security requirements.

      &= nbsp;   1. Please enter a password with at least 8 characters.

      &= nbsp;   2. To meet the strong password requirement, it must include 3 of the following types of characters: Uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. For example: Pa55w*rd. Once logged into Blackboard, click on the course homepage and course icons for additional course information.&n= bsp; Students should have basic computer and word processing skills, u= sing Microsoft Word, prior to taking the course.
