VIRTUAL COLLEGE OF TEXAS

FACT SHEET and REGISTRATION PROCESS

The Virtual College of Texas (VCT) is a collaboration of Texas community colleges that offer online courses to students who are unable to find needed courses at their home college. VCT operates on a Host-Provider arrangement. The Host is your local community college (TVCC). The Provider is the community college providing the instruction. If you are attending TVCC and the course you need for your degree is not offered online by TVCC, you may be able to reserve a space in that class at another VCT college (Provider).

Course requests must be submitted

at least five weekdays prior to the

start of the course.  Click here to submit.

Note:
We will NOT process requests for online VCT courses if Trinity Valley Community College is offering the same course online and space is available.

Reservation requests may be submitted for online courses offered through the Virtual College of Texas (VCT) by following these instructions.

  1. Check the Trinity Valley Community College course schedule for available courses at http://www.vct.org. to determine if Trinity Valley Community College is offering the course you need.
  2. If Trinity Valley Community College is not currently offering the course online or it is offered but is full, then you may request a reservation in a course offered through the Virtual College of Texas.
  3.
    • Select a course from the approved Virtual College of Texas course schedule at http://www.vct.org. Because these courses are already approved, requests for courses from this list can be processed quickly.
    • Or, select a course from the VCT statewide schedule found at http://www.vct.org. Requests for courses from this schedule are subject to approval, which may take several days to obtain. Students will be notified via email when the reservation is made or in the event the course is not approved.
  4. Verify that you have met all of the course prerequisites and make note of textbook information, orientation dates or requirements to contact the instructor.
  5. Submit a reservation request.
    • For VCT reservations, students will receive several email messages
          • Trinity Valley Community College unique course number to use when registering for the course
          • A message stating that a VCT reservation has been made

  6. Register before the deadline by contacting the Distance Education office at ecourseshelp@tvcc.edu or calling 903-675-6324
