Financial Aid

Financial Assistance may be available to qualified students enrolling in workforce-related classes.

T.P.E.G (Texas Public Education Grant)

Limited grant funds are available.  Grants are awarded to qualifying workforce-related classes, not to exceed $450.

To apply for this grant, a student must take the following steps:

  1. Apply for and qualify for a PELL grant in the academic year of the class to be taken (contact Financial Aid at 903-675-6233 for application instructions or go to www.fafsa.ed.gov on the web);
  2. Come to the Community Services Division service window on the Athens campus or the Continuing Education office on the Terrell, Palestine or Kaufman campuses.
  3. Register for the selected, qualifying class and complete the Community Services Financial Aid application.
  4. Take the completed grant application to the Financial Aid Office for approval;
  5. Return approved grant application to the Community Services or Continuing Education office for completion of grant transaction;
  6. Pay the balance of tuition.  Grant is not applied until balance of tuition is paid.  Funds are available on a first come, first served basis, and enrollment is not complete until balance of tuition is paid.

TVCC Community Services Grant

Limited funds are available. This grant may be awarded for a percentage of the student's tuition balance or a specific dollar amount (not to exceed $450). Students are reponsible for the remaining costs of tuition at the time of enrollment. Grant awards are on a first come basis. Award is not guaranteed until the registration is complete and the balance of the tuition is paid.

This grant is dependent upon student eligibility as verified by the Financial Aid office and the availability of funds. (Failure to pass a class may prevent future eligibility for grant funds.) The grant funds are available for approved workforce training classes only. To apply for this grant the student must:

Community Services Financial Aid Application

Community Services, Inc. - TVCC works with Community Services, Inc. to assist qualified students in obtaining grant funds for workforce training. These grants may cover tuition, books, transportation and child care for students who meet the program income criteria. Students who are interested in applying for this grant should contact: Community Services, Inc. directly at 1-800-872-0347 to apply.

TVCC Community Services Foundation Scholarship -(Please note: There are no foundation scholarship funds available at this time)

This scholarship is provided by the TVCC Foundation to eligible students enrolled in workforce development courses. 

  • Award limits:  This scholarship may be awarded as a percentage of class cost or for a specific dollar amount (not to exceed $400). The student is responsible for the remaining costs of tuition at the time of enrollment. And, the award is not guaranteed until the remaining tuition is receipted by the college. The student is responsible for books, materials and other costs associated with the class.  Scholarships are awarded for one class at a time.
  • Funds are limited and are awarded on a first come basis.  Students are encouraged to apply early.
  • Scholarships are awarded on committee recommendations. 
  • This scholarship is dependent upon student eligibility and the availability of funds. (Student may be required to provide proof of having completed course/program entry requirements for the specific course to be taken prior to scholarship approval.)
  • The student must have successfully completed all other TVCC courses attempted (credit and non-credit), must document that they have successfully completed high school or GED.  Other verification of experience, certifications, course eligibility, prerequisites, etc. may be required, depending on the course selected.
  • This scholarship is available for workforce development courses only.  (Personal enrichment courses are not eligible.)

Student must submit an application form and application letter (written by the student) explaining why they want the scholarship.  (This is not limited to, but can include financial need statements, career goal statements, personal information for the readers to get to know the applicant, past work/school experiences, level of commitment of the student, etc.)  Student must submit 2 signed letters of recommendation.  Student must not owe money to TVCC.

TANF Career Skills Scholarship

Students who are eligible (or potentialy eligible) for Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) may qualify for the TANF Career Skills Scholarship. Students must live in Anderson or Henderson county to qualify. Students must attend 24 hours of Career Skills Training to be eligible for these funds. For additional information call 903-675-6330.
