Adult Education/Academic Preparation

Adult Education offers workplace-based instruction in a variety of areas that will prepare students for the GED examination, and introduce them to the language and math skills needed for business, trades or  medical careers.

In addition to regular classroom work, the writing and math classes correspond to a hands-on lab which allows the students to apply the math and writing skills they are acquiring in the classroom to real life situations.  Students are asked to designate a “career path” of medical, trades or business, and the lab provides experience in using the language and math on examples and exercises from those career workplaces.

All students entering Adult Education classes are required to attend an orientation process before being enrolled in any class. The orientation to the program is a one month process. Students will attend the following:

From time to time a practice GED test is offered at the campus in Athens, Terrell or Palestine.
