The Trinity Valley Community College Adult Education Department offers classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages that include basic reading, writing, speaking and understanding, as well as citizenship classes and accent reduction.
All students are welcome, including those whose English is very limited, those who need only focused instruction on one or more language skills, or anyone in between. We also welcome students from all language backgrounds.
Classes are offered at the following locations:
- TVCC campus in Athens, Liberal Arts Building and at Athens ISD
- Anderson County Literacy Council building at 1101 N. Fowler St. in Palestine;
- TVCC campus in Terrell
- Other sites may be added as demand requires.
English instruction is also available using the computer labs at the various TVCC locations.
English instruction offered at TVCC includes basic language skills used in various kinds of workplaces, including business, trades and medical, as well as language for daily living and common situations.
Classes also include an introduction to the American way of life, including idioms, local resources and institutions, and—perhaps most importantly—the language and topics that the students request.
TVCC is a learning-centered and learner-centered institution, and teachers and administrators attempt at all times to provide the instruction and curriculum that ESL students need to be successful in their life in the United States.
All Classes are offered at no fee to the student
